9号秘事非常类似于黑镜。每一集都是讲述各自独立无相关的故事，共同点只有每个故事都是发生在有关于「九」号的场景，像是屋子、饭店房间、办公室甚至是火车包厢。
也因为如此，9号秘事的格局相当小，每一集长度仅有30分钟，和如同电影般的黑镜相比，9号秘事更显得短小精干。要知道一个完整的故事必须在30分钟内述说完是相当不容易，因为时间很短，需要掌控好每一个铺陈细节，同时节奏还不能太快，免得观众吸收不来，最重要的是半小时内就要有一个让人了解的内容。
9号秘事的特点就在于此处，编剧总是很一针见血地叙述出要点，每一集都有不同的内容，且充满着讽刺味道，宛如寓言故事。
最让观众感到精彩的地方莫于过故事呈现方式都像是奈特沙马兰导演早期的电影作品，如布鲁斯威利主演的灵异第六感、惊心动魄等… …。
